Is your PC 4K ready?

Go to solution Solved by SansVarnic,

Honestly who cares about 4k Gaming. 1080 or 1440 is just fine. Cost wise it is not wise to game 4k for a few years yet.

"Optimal game play" = lowest settings on a non AAA game...

I believe anything higher than a 950 is 4k ready.

People seem to have max settings etched in to their brains.

Common sense heavily implies that when people discuss ''4k ready'', they are in fact referring to graphically intense games recently released or soon to be released. As in, games like Witcher 3, Rise of the tomb raider, Metal gear solid 5, Star wars: Battlefront EA, Battlefield Hardline, Hitman 6, Deus ex: manking divided and many more.

My 580 can push BF4 at 4K on low with ultra mesh at 45FPS... it's not a revelation, plus that 384 bit bus really helps it out.

That is odd, considering 4k resolution demand bandwidth in the 12-14GB/s area. Something the ports on a 580 is unable to provide.

Only S? You have to try harder Loki ;).

Edit: Ah ok its Benchmark. But that Game isnt a good Example. My Card wouldnt even recognize its doing something.

And 4k is the absolutly minority. 0.7% of Steam Users use a 4k Display. Even 1440p is only 1.7%. Most People use 1080p and below. But how someone enjoy below 1080p is beyond me.

And no, my PC is not 4k ready for decent Frames. Fact is, the higher the Resolution, the better it looks. But play at 4k with 30 Frames is ridiculous. I am a Graphicswhore. Turning down Settings is no Option for me.
