First world Probs. CSGO huge frame drop

Yoyomaster420

TLDR is it CSGO, or my PC

I've have been playing csgo at 200+ fps on my rig for the last 2 1/2 months. Last night the game was unplayable at 60 fps. (slow sad violin music :( why me? ) I tried to verify files, didn't work. I tried a few other things, I ended up doing a reinstall. Now I am at work looking though csgo reddit. I have come across 6 posts in the last 24 hours. All the same, Huge framerate drops. All on higher end rigs. Anyone have any idea's. me)

BTW super new to computers/pc gaming in general

my specs

i5 6600k (not OCed)

gtx 960 (small OC)

16g ddr4

500w psu

krait 170 mobo

Post from another sight, with same specs same problem http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2959476/huge-fps-drops.html

links to 5 reddit posts, having similar issues, all started in the last 12 hours.

I haven't tried other games yet, I probably should have as it could help with diagnosing problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Check your video settings? they seem to keep resetting video settings to max, try turning them down to low and see if it still happens.

Thanks for the quick responses. I tried adjusting all shaders and stuff to the lowest setting, I doubt that would bring me from 250 avg fps to 60 avg fps. I am losing 190 FPS somehow.

I will have to look into disableing intergrated graphics(idk what that means).. is that just bypassing my 960? (sorry i am new)

I did try the mat que thing in console to no affect

And I will try disable screen overlay when I get home from work.

Also, make sure you have your power options set to "high performance" instead of balanced. If neither of my suggestions work then it's most likely a driver issue.

Dude, it's CS GO on a 960 not Ctysis 3, it can run it on balanced with the Power limit on 50%, it's most likely a driver issue

Haven't head if that's the case, but hey, maybe you're right ;)

If you're seeing other individuals with other configurations and game settings report similar framerates, then I'm inclined to say it's related to either a recent driver update, or a recent game update.
