First PC build for streaming/gaming

Hi,

I want to build a pc that I can play games such as CS:GO, LoL etc. while streaming with enough fps and no lagg spikes. My budget is around 1300€ (I live in the Netherlands and some parts can be much more expensive than in the US). My last computer was an iMac so I don't have a good monitor yet so I'll need to buy that too.

I had some ideas about the new Skylake processors but since this is my first PC build I don't really know what's good for me. Any help is appreciated.

The colour doesn't matter and easy cable management would be nice. I also don't know if I'll be overclocking but a motherboard that can handle it in the possible future would be great.

Thanks in advance.

That's a pretty high budget to play CS:GO and LoL but I would suggest you to watch Linus Build the Perfect Gaming PC - Holiday Buyer's Guide 2015.

I modified my skylake build to give some room to put a case and a monitor, beware that the CPU is not unlocked but the motherboard supports overclocking.

If you want to go skylake just remember that you will usually have to get DDR4 memory unless your Mobo supports DDR3.

@Streetguru is there any noticeable difference between DDR3-1600 and DDR4? And would it be worth to save up 200 euros more and go for the GTX 980 instead of the 390?

Also, I added an SSD and 8 GB of RAM, is it worth the money? Thanks in advance, really appreciate it.

Unless you already have a 1440p/4k display spending more on your GPU probably isn't worth it, better to save that money for the future

if you wanted a better GPU though the R9 Nano just had a price drop, so it's going to be faster overall than the 980 for the same price, plus you still have money on the adaptive sync display

Think imma buy the R9 Nano then, but I have another question: can this motherboard even have multiple 1440p monitors? I only see 1 HDMI port and not even a Display Port, so i guess FreeSync is also out of the question...

The motherboard doesn't output your video when you have an R9 Nano.

The nano can do 4x 1440p displays easily. The motherboard can do two but you shouldn't cause it would run off of onboard. (It has DVI+HDMI and VGA but nobody cares about VGA)

A GTX 970 can easily push Counter Strike and LoL. with a ton of room to still stream. go with a 6600k, and I would get a Z170 Deluxe which some people say is the best Z170 board. You can check if you can afford them in the Netherlands but these are what I would go with.

Yeah but that'd be an insane resolution for one R9 Nano to push (in games, desktop is okay ofc).

If you just want to play CS:GO and LoL, even at 1440p, you should get an 380x or something a little cheaper.

what do you want the displays for?

I like video editing and playing around with photoshop. Also just like to have a monitor that's a bit future proof i guess. And do you mean a R9 Nano can't handle that or that it would be overkill?

Well, the Nano can do CSGO at 7680x1440 probably but other games wouldn't work all that well i think.

7680x1440 would be around 37% larger than 4k sooo..

The nano would be overkill, but like I said, you could get a 144hz display, which would be great for gaming, especially with free-sync, just that the color accuracy won't be there with TN

It doesn't seem too bad given that it's a TN panel, and a secondary 1080p IPS display can be had on the cheap later on

for CS:GO a 144hz display can be fairly useful to have if gaming is the main focus.

Depends on the person. I for mine don't actually see a ton of difference between my monitors (120hz vs 60hz).

I guess @OP should just check out some monitors in a store or something and maybe even play at them to see/not see a difference.

Personally i'd go for a 60hz 1440p over a 120hz 1080p any freaking day.

Depends on the person. I for mine don't actually see a ton of difference between my monitors (120hz vs 60hz).

It's going to depend mostly on weather the focus is gaming or productivity, it's too bad there isn't any 60Hz 1440p IPS free-sync displays available yet

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

@FloRolf I guess I'll just go to a store then, to see what suits me best.

Is it worth it to get a 6600k together with a 970 instead of the 1232 together with the R9 Nano and spent the money on a H170 Deluxe motherboard? @TYCriswell2
