Hi guys,

I have a Gigabyte Windforce 980Ti 6GB, and i'm currently building a pc around it :)

So i'm on a budget and i'm not sure which CPU (And Motherboard) to get...

i'll probably be getting a 650W Bronze PSU.. i wont be overclocking it and there wont be SLI...

I'm trying to keep the build on the small size..

I cannot afford an i7 6700 currently, i want to have an OK CPU that won't bottleneck this beast...

Thanks for the help guys!

not OCing? 6600 or 6700 would be ideal, 6400 would be lowest you could probably get away with in most games.

haswell equivalent's (4690, 4790, and 4460) included.

Yea need a budget. But I would also recommend to avoid building a system around your GPU it is a great way to end up with bottlenecks.

No one votes for an AMD CPU here?

AMD is old. Haswell/Skylake is better overall.

no, not if you want to actually use the 980 ti :)

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

Sadly the truth is if you are going to buy into AMD now you are going to really limit your self with speed and upgrade ability and so on.

If you really want an AMD system wait for Zen and pray it does well.

Intel, for the moment (unless its a really really cheap build) is the way to go for gaming.

That's what I would do.  Honestly, the title about trying to use a budget CPU with a 980 ti caught my attention... kind of like putting $20k racing slicks on a civic ;)
