Yeah didn't plan on using it right away. It has a plastic shell which could crack easily.

it would crack if it changes temp quickly

It won't affect the circuits and their components - those can turn on and operate at well under -15°C. The battery is another matter. Those want to be warmer when operating, afaik.

Like stated in title, non battery electronics. :)

Ah, sorry - when I looked it up, the pictures looked like a drone control thing - which would use a battery. Never mind, then.

In that case, the electronics will be totally fine.

It's a head tracking device.

I would just leave it in the box for a for a while after you bring it in. If you open it immediately, the warmer air will come into contact with it and cause condensation. Just leave it in the box until you think it has warmed up on the inside. I would guess somewhere in the neighborhood of a few hours should be okay.

I once ordered a GTX 970 in Jan 2015, it was -20 Celcius and it stayed outside for about 4-5 hours.

When I came back from work, I simply placed the box on my kitchen table and waited around 1h or so before opening the box.

Never got any problem with it 1 year later.

In theory , IC's can run as cold as you like , the real problem is condensation ,which can occur if you start up the device before letting it heat up at roopm temperature. Make sure to let it get back to ambiant temps first.

So I ordered a Track IR 5 but it's going to have stay outside for like 6 hours at minus 15 celcius. Does cold like this shrek electronics?

operating temperaturs:

consumer: 0°C - 75°C

industrial: -20°C - 85°C

extenden / military: -40°C - 95°C

non-operatir it's even more. But you have to make sure there is no condensation.
