Gravitational waves propagate at the speed of light. Not faster nor slower. It's all in General relativity.

 

The higgs boson is just an subatomic structure which is an excitation of the higgs field. You must be thinking about gravitons, the theorized elementary particle that makes up gravity fields in quantum mechanics.

yes the higgs boson thats what I was thinking of and yes it wasn't the answer. and how could you test if it was faster or the speed of light... in all reality...

Oh I guess that's true watch light and see what its doing compared to other stuff. Also when light gets bent by gravity does light accelerate(in a negative way)?

That's a tricky question.

 

The straightforward answer is that the speed of light stays constant in vacuum, so therefore acceleration is 0. Acceleration is the derivative of velocity. The derivative of an constant is 0. So light neither speeds up nor speeds down (de-accelerate).

 

Here's where it gets complicated: Relativity. It all depends on how you're observing light (what reference frame). Light (as an wave) will still follow the path or displacement of spacetime caused by objects. So you may think that the speed of light may change, but what is actually changing is time (time slows down or speeds up relative to an observer).

Read the smalltext... the planet's existence is implied by the orbits of other bodies in the Kuiper belt. That is hardly proof. I would love to believe this as much as anyone else, but this story is just the media blowing up scientific research papers beyond proportion, like it happens every freaking week.
