Intel Pentium G3258 Haswell

I am going to be building a new computer for my parents, and all they do on it is surf the web, check their emails, and use Microsoft Office.

I understand that this chip is unlocked but I don't really see a point in overclocking my parents computer.

So my question is will this CPU do the tasks stated above without overclocking it?

Why get a chip that can be overclocked if you're not overclocking?

Switch CPU to a Pentium G3220, and motherboard to one that is H81, ditch the WD Black, replace with WD Blue and get an SSD.

Get a 6100. Better everything, cpu performance, graphics, ram. Also why is that mobo so damn expensive.

It will work fine for all of the tasks listed. You should definitely get a different, cheaper motherboard. If you spend less on the motherboard, you could probably get an i3 in there.

I used to be quite active here.

I'd also get an SSD, just so their computer is really quick and snappy. Doesn't have to be big, a 120GB Crucial BX100 would do great.

Right, get a 240GB 850 EVO instead of the hard drive.

Any PSU is modular if you try hard enough....
