That makes no sense. It should just pump out more frames. It's not a laptop.

 

I've noticed my 390x exhibits such behavior in older games such as TF2 or mirrors edge. Still 60<fps but it'll sit around 500mhz for some reason. Granted it's an AMD card, and it's actually kind of annoying, but it happens.

This is neither useful or going to answer the OP's issue, it is simply EPeen measuring and the valley benchmark thread is the place to post your results etc. One thread has already been derailed by intel elitists hence the creation of this one.

Valley uses a single core, and is not representative of gaming. It's just a useful tool for overclocking to find gains and test stability.

here you can see, overclocked 970 only comes up to about 213 in Furmark of all benchmarks. In gaming loads it's not even close to double.

Please tell me how I hit 350-400 fps in CSGO if my 8350 is bottlenecking my 970 at 1660mhz?   FX isn't the issue here, well it is, but not for the reason you're thinking as the OP just sent me an interesting screenshot.

@aslan501 Here's what I would try. Run Display Driver Uninstaller, which you can download here (Download the latest 15.7.3.0 version at the bottom) and run it. This will hopefully delete any remnants of the old AMD drivers and your current Nvidia drivers. Then re-download the latest Nvidia drivers and install those.
