I have been playing fallout 4 for almost 60 hours now and the fps seems unstable in random places.

I get an average of 60 fps when i am not doing anything in an open area, no rain, no fighting just standing. when i am fighting i get an average of 55 fps even with multiple explosions going off. when its raining and i am just standing i get an average of 45 fps. when its raining and i am fighting, it drops as low as 20 fps, when its not raining and i look at certain parts of maps and walls i get about 8 fps on average, but it increases to 60 after about 15 seconds.

Going inside the institute, most of the time i am getting an average of 40 fps with it getting as low as 35 in some places. Strange...

That's actually pretty normal for Fallout 4.

Welcome to the world of triple A titles being shitty :) also no support for 21:9

Try turn of god rays and limit anti aliasing to 16x (if you are on AMD gpu). Also set process priority to high. It helped quite a bit in my case.

Then just try to set process priority of fallout to high. not sure if its gonna help but i dont think its gonna do any worst.

Or use mods to make it easier for ur pc. head over to nexus mod

Under the surface it is basically a Skryrim clone. Don't expect too much of it. ;)

That being said, I am thoroughly enjoying the game, regardless. In between the crashes and glitches...

What CPU? It's still the old Creation Engine, modified from Skyrim. I imagine it's quite platform-bound, so your framerate drops could be related to CPU performance.

oh right, its eyeinfinity triple monitor. not 21:9 ratio. anyhow, 21:9 doesnt work some really annoying work arounds.

correct, there Is an inf edit that allows 21:9, but typically speaking gaming in surround, if allowable, will generally allow setting your resolution to 21:9 as well? I may plug in my ultra wide tomorrow and see ...

yeah needed to edit inf, and some ui streching mods. still has glitches with the hud but its playable. Still its kinda anoyying having to pay $$$ for a triple A title , just to find these things that modders can quickly fix..

Thanks Bethesda.

Thats a simple (albeit time consuming) fix. Either delete the lower level, or place an occlusion plane between the two (although an occlusion plane directly under the first level would be a good idea regardless, especially in hilly areas where you can't see the lower elevations past the hills anyways)

If Bethesda doesn't patch it, there will probably be a mod that fixes it. Hell, I'll give it a shot when the GECK comes out if I can find the time.

Intel i7 6700k @ 4.8ghz, NZXT Kraken X61, ASUS Z170 Maximus VIII Hero, (2x8GB) Kingston DDR4 2400, 2x Sapphire Nitro Fury OC+, Thermaltake 1050W

I hopped back into fallout 4 last I night, since I stopped to prestige in BOIII, I have to say, the game still runs near flawless for me. I ran it on my 980m on ultra with a locked 60 fps and never experienced stuttering. Of course, this is on an i7 processor, 980m and 16gb of hyperx ram... so there is obviously bottlenecks in the game as my CPU showed 90% use during gameplay, and graphics card ran around 85%. So folks experiencing any issues should throw monitors up and see where the cut is at.

Apparently in the last patch they fixed the support for uwsg so wide and surround support is gone. But the ini edit works fine albeit with a little hud issue coming with it.
