Some YouTube questions

I have quite a few questions regarding youtube and being a youtuber

 

1) Do you keep raw footage on your HDD even after uploading it to youtube?

2) Is 25000Kb/s a bit excessive for Video bit rate? And if so then what is appropriate?

3) Should i use NVENC or x264?

4) What do i do to increase views?

5) How do i maintain and grow viewer retention on videos?

6) How do i increase viewer interaction?

 

According to YouTube more than half of my views (67%) come from people searching key words and then clicking on my videos. And if someone finds a video through a search using key words they are likely to watch an average of 4 minutes of a video. (Not awful but this is still quite bad considering most of my videos are 20 to 40+ minutes)

 

And most of my views (2/3 of views) come from mobile phones (a little bit surprising to me )

 

and not a whole ton of desktop users (1/3 of views).

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

You always keep a backup of video. 25000Kb/s isn't excessive if you are shooting 4k and the quality is there otherwise it is pointless and just causes more render time.

1. I keep all the raw files, i actually keep two copies.

2. I use 12Mb/s even when rendering at 4k.

3. I use H.264, good looks, low file sizes.

4. More better videos.

5. See what the average viewing duration is, make videos slightly longer than that just with better content.

6. Engage the viewers, ask more questions, supply links, etc.

- Create accaunts on multiple social media platforms (twitter, FB, instagram, ...) so that people are going to find u and be informed about the new videos you just made.

- When u do release a video, make sure to share links to it (as said above).

- Quality over quantity!

I already do it a bit on Twitter. I'm gonna include links to social pages now in desciption of videos.

 

I respond to comments when they are thee cos most of my videos have no comments.

 

Yeah, Quality of quantity. I'm trying out some more advanced video editing software.

Maybe use cloud storage, compress your files, or only keep important videos that you can see yourself referencing.

If you want to increase views, get a microphone. I doubt I would ever watch a video without anything interesting happening and someone just watching the game being played. The only reason people get big off let's plays is because of their personality and their choices in the  game. If your videos lack any personality and commentary, then I do not see a reason why anyone would watch the video.

I have quite a few questions regarding youtube and being a youtuber

1) Do you keep raw footage on your HDD even after uploading it to youtube?

2) Is 25000Kb/s a bit excessive for Video bit rate? And if so then what is appropriate?

3) Should i use NVENC or x264?

4) What do i do to increase views?

5) How do i maintain and grow viewer retention on videos?

6) How do i increase viewer

1. I dont , takes too much space , prefrwnce

2. Id say 18k max

3.dunno really , google, id google but i hate this laggy phone

4.post videos on social wrbsites , show to friends

Reply to viewers comments , use microphone if you dont already , the viewers will feel More special.

I'm not a youtuber but I can answer some of your questions.

 

25k bitrate is a bit excessive, on youtube more than 20k are wasted space

use x264, it's the standard for youtube hd content

keeping your footage is only important if you plan on reusing it soon, if it only happens once in a while and you can't afford a 100tb server like lmg just download what you need off of youtube the few times you want to.
