PCI express slot and mini slots

Are big PCI slots that are used for gps somehow linked to mini slots that are used for something like wiresless cards?

you can use mini pci slots to plug in pci stuff with an adapter

it works just fine

its not optimal though

I was wondering if they somehow link in to speed or some other stuff that could relate to gpu performance?

The small PCIE slots you are referring to are mini-pcie.

These are down scaled versions of the normal pcie slot which has more bandwidth than the mini-pcie one.

You can read about it more (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express#PCI_Express_Mini_Card) here.

But generally there isn't enough pins for a GPU to be slotted into a mini-pcie so i don't think there is much to worry about that.

Yes and no. I assume you are planning to install a wireless card on your x4 mini-PCI slot and are worried about affecting the performance of your GPU on the x16 PCI-e slot, am I right?

What is your CPU? It all depends on how many PCI lanes it supports. If it supports 16 lanes, it means that the wireless card will be taking some away from your GPU. In reality, an x8 connection will be almost as good as a x16 on most cases, with minimal performance hit when it's not. The wireless card will probably just use 1 lane itself, but your GPU can either do 8 or 16, not anything in-between. If your CPU has anything more than 20 lanes you should have zero performance hit.

Ty but I m just kinda confused about using more then one pci slot because it says it cuts speed. But  on net there is rarely any video on some1 building with wiresless card.

So I was just wondering what happens to my gpu when I plug in wireless gared in one of those pcie slots

edit

O you already answered most of it.

I m planing to use 6600k and prob gtx 960 and wiresless card in lowest pcie slot I guess something from tp link. And as for motherboard probably gigabyte z170x gaming 3

It will not effect performance of your graphics card if you put a wireless card in your computer.

The reason most build logs don't have wireless cards is because newer motherboards have built in wi-fi

That CPU has 20 lanes. Meaning that even if you take up 4 lanes for another card on the mini-PCI slot, you still have full 16 lanes available for your GPU. It will perform at maximum in your scenario.
