Honestly, I don't have a problem with this. People like linus produce entertainment for basically free if I have to watch and click through a 5 second trailer so I can watch his videos I am all for it!

if you read the article it's the ISP that is offering the adblock service and they are just suspending the service until they come to terms with google

The story goes farther than this, if i remenber corrzctly about 6 month ago there was a polemic about Free (the isp) just completly blocking ads on many sites, including youtube. And this made many french youtubers very angry because some lost up to 50% of their ad revenue, which is a lot. I dont remenber them proposing this ad blocking as a service but i can be wrong. also for those who are wondering, they suck as an isp, i have them and frankly its horrible, they throttle me on a daily basis from 16h to 22h just because, their advertise speed is far from true, i get like 1/20th of the theorical speed (and im doing the bit/bytes conversion). Plus they have no intention in proposing fiber to anyone...

I would like it if removing ad block from the web was just a matter of flipping a switch and it was gone forever.

I've disabled adblock for Linus but I still don't see adds?

How have you done it? The only way to disable ads for a youtube channel is to disable it globally for youtube. There is no way to infer the youtube channel from the URL of a video, and there are loads of problems to get past to detect which channel it is through other means, so no adblocker I've seen has implemented it. I expect you just tried to disable it on www.youtube.com/linustechtips/*, which will not affect www.youtube.com/watch?videoID

I get loads of ads on linus tech tips and other channels at the moment.
