i7s 6700K or 5930K !

Go to solution Solved by kameshss,

Getting 5820k is super good. But for gaming 6700k be more than enough.

But considering that both are in same price range, you should go for 5820k.

6700k has 4 core 8 threads.

5820k has 6 core 12 threads. 5820k is superior than a 6700k.

I'm trying to build a 4k gaming pc and while choosing a possessor I came up to these two with nearly equal benchmark results. So which would you recommend?

M.T.

I think a 6700K would be better if you are only using the PC for gaming.

Microcenters have the 5820k for less than a 6700k, I'd get that. You can then OC the 5820k to 4.0 GHz and have a much better system. The 5930k is overpriced for the most part.

5820K is the best option. 40% faster than a 6700K and only marginally slower than a 5930K

And yeah, don't get the 5930k. It's just waste of money.

5820k is value for money.

No, it is worse, 2 Less cores with the same result in gaming.

Yeah, I originally got mine just for gaming (great deal) and now I am doing a decent ammunt of editing and it really comes in handy, the two extra cores.

I originally got a i5 4690K, After 2 Months I realised I needed more cores / threads :(

Was that with the chips overclocked or not?

The 6700K has a 0.7GHz stock clock advantage over the 5820K.  When running at the same clocks I'd expect the difference to negligible, and in highly threaded games (and DX12 games of the future) the 5820K could very well pull away.

I have to agree with most of these guys are saying, if you're going for a cpu and u want it to do everything u can possibly throw at it the 5820k is a bad ass cpu but ud be paying a little bit more for your motherboard if ur going with a 5820k which is no big deal but the 5820k will draw more power than the 6700k and may have a little bit higher heat temperature than it so I would recommend water cooling for anyone of them if you're going to overclock them and the 5820k will be faster for multicore processing but the 6700k will be faster for single core processing but the 5820k will bottle neck ur gpu less and will have more flexibility for 4K and is "future proof" for when games demand 6 cores which is gonna be a long time from now
