Strict Build Guide

Hey guys, I made a budget build with a monitor and keyboard combo with mouse. I know I shouldn't but I'm in a really tight budget tbh. Could this run games like CS:GO, TF2, MGSV, Rocket League, GMOD, Minecraft,This war of mine and Quake live at high settings at 30-60 fps? What about GTA V, MKX and some games on my wish list like that at mid settings at good fps (30 fps). Thanks

that cpu has no place in this build, at all.

from the games you listed i have experience with none use more than two cores, so 75% of that cpu you picked is just gonna sit idle.

as well as that board probably not being all to great to power that cpu.

i'd suggest going the intel i3 route on this one, i feel like it'll be a much better choice overall.

It will probably die... Tbh i don't see an 8320 and a 650 happy with only 400w...

edit: if you go i3 you can keep the 400w and it would be fine, an i3 is decent enough for budget gaming.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

4170 is a nice one. I have a system with that cpu and it runs actually quite well combined with a 7770.

While the 8320 would normally outperform an i3 in anything that uses more than 4 cores consistently (such as most modern games), the i3 is more than capable of driving a R9 380 and the 380 will give results on the level of a 680 or better most of the times. As for the PSU, XFX are SeaSonic rebrands and SeaSonic are one of the two oldest and most trusted PSU OEMS who have been around for more than 40 years now. (the other one is Delta)

Keep in mind the monitor is TN (not IPS) so the colors might not be the best.

Yes yes. IPS is mainly for color accuracy and viewing angles. So if you plan to have a few friends over for movies then an IPS monitor is better. Strictly for gaming, it doesn't matter.

I believe the Acer on should be 1080p (though feel free to double check).

I would also have liked to fit an SSD in there but that would mean 20$ over budget so no can-do

Consider getting a better gpu, as it is primarily dictates how well the game runs. And also get a better, higher wattage psu, so you don't have to worry about not having enough wattage to spare when upgrading and it will be able to handle higher loads.

Okay, so I had a friend over that knows a little more about PCs than me,he play Fallout 4 on 1440p at 60fps but his PC costs 1,300$ :o. He came up with this, telling me it can run GTA V,MGSV, Rocket League, Fallout 4, MKX, and maybe Rise of the Tomb Raider, all at 1080p, mid to high settings at 55fps+ :0 should I believe him? Thanks!

While it will, he made a few CRUCIAL errors.

The CX500 is definitely a gamble as it's a office PSU and putting hot and power-hungry components such as a GPU might result in instability or worse, system failure.

The case is also a very cheap one which I only recommend in sub-500$ builds

He spend nearly double the money on the cooler when it won't make any difference over the stock one as both can keep that CPU cool enough. While I do believe that 50*C is better than 65*C, both are safe and since this is a locked CPU won't make a difference.

16GB is too much and frankly wasteful. Even while having 30 tabs of chrome open while gaming I still don't max 8GB. Save money there and go for 8GB

No SSD: If you're spending close to 800$ an SSD is a must.

GPU: R9 390 is superior in nearly every way to a 970. It's faster by 5% at 1080p and 10% at 1440p. It's got more than double the usable VRAM. It also has vastly superior DX12 performance. And also cheaper.

This is much better value

Thanks for the monitor, but I'm not changing the graphics card, I'm going to put my back into it, it should be fine like this, left the 390 in there but put the new ram and monitor there, I AM GOING TO GAME AT 1080p AT HIGH SETTINGS!!!! AND ITS GOING TO HE WORTH IT!! It may be past the budget by 100 or 200 but I feel it's going to be worth it to work extra! Dude, I can not thank you enough for this seriously! Thanks so.much!!!

You're going to be gaming at 1080p Ultra 60fps for the most part :)

The only game which I think you will have to dial back is FO4 and I mean the Nvidia-only settings but on the upside, you get the AMD-only settings in Tomb Raider :D

No problem. If you have ANY issues or questions, feel free to PM me. I will do my best to answer. Also, just as a teaser, google "AMD Tress FX" in youtube and watch the hair :P
