You that know me knew this was coming. Was going to hold out for a 980 or one of the new cards but I spend more time trying to get my rig to work than game and I'm going crazy.

Nothing wrong with the 290 I have, or the 390. I play Gameworks games and I'm done fighting problems with doing so with a AND card.

So. I'm stuck between the EVGA SSC, EVGA FTW, or the MSI. I obviously want the best, but was wondering if anyone had some thoughts on the differences.

Thank you

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Personally... I gotta give my vote to the MSI Gaming 4G 970. Nice looking and tends to be decently good at overclocking. Plus MSI customer support.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

EVGA Hybrid. Though MSI Gaming is the best of the three you listed.

I've had MSI GTX 970 4G 100ME Limited Edition and it was a great one, went above 1500mhz core / 4000mhz memory without even touching voltage, was quiet and cool.

Definitely better under every aspect besides cooling than my flatmate's G1 Gaming 970. While it would be worse in terms of cooling, I've never seen it go past 75 degrees anyway so it's irrelevant

All of you 1500+ MHz 970 owners piss me off when I can't get higher than 1418 MHz after GPU Boost 2.0

Evga Hybrids are dumb af. They slap on a horrible ASIC quality gpu and try to compensate with a AIO cooler on it. Hoping that you don't look past the sexy cooler.

The FTW are the best 970 imo, I see a lot more of those easily hitting 1600mhz overclocks

I believe I got it stable @ 1520mhz core, @1530 it was starting to display some occasional artifacts so I turned it down a little

They're not cherry picking gpus? Just the review samples are getting the crazy overclocks?

First, I'll take the 290 off you and a few to choose from are the Galax HoF, G1 Gaming, and I know EVGA has a high end one like the Hybrid.

Evga for best customer support. Not sure if they already fix the cooler though, read the chip barely touching the heatpipes.

MSI because it's red dragon.

They fixed it in the 3xxx models, the 2xxx ones (eg 2974-KR) were those with one heatpipe not touching the core.

Bad experience with their customer support, but I know the GPUs a good one.

Thought about a hybrid but want to keep it around 350us

Well, from what I'd seen, the 970 clubs mentions alot about the G1. Probably your best chance at 1600mhz.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

I know, I've seen that too. Not sure if the extra umf is worth risking bad coverage though. If I didn't have a blue build I'd probably pop on the MSI. The EVGA is more neutral.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
