No, it doesn't make you 'retarded'.

While a separate soundcard can sound better than the built in one, these days the built-in cards are actually really good, especially those on higher end motherboards.

Having a dedicated sound card would probably be a worse choice than using the onboard, as there's really no improvement when compared to modern onboard audio. If anything, get a decent external DAC. (not needed though)

No, modern integrated sound cards are really good. If you would actually get a sound card, it could be worse causing interference.

As others have said most sound cards sound worse or the same as the onboard ones. Your good :)

TekSyndicate made a video about it. Sound cards give you the same or worse audio, the only advantage is basicly the software which (may) be better

You're probably fine. I only have an MSI Z97 PCMATE with HD 558s and no sound card...

Have a 1k dac/amp setup... If anything I'm the retarded one since I felt it's the same as my old o2+odac setup for tripled the price. Though money isn't exactly tight, and it gives me ease of mind that there's no bottleneck in my audio chain.

Sound cards are a joke now since pretty much every gaming MB manufacturer includes 7.1 onboard audio. Unless you're doing professional audio recording there's no point in investing.

The days of sound cards are dying out slowly. The HD598 is easy to drive, and doesn't need a amp and a sound card would probably be a con for you, since on board audio solutions are better than a decade ago. Of you plan on getting anything, I'd suggest a DAC of some sort.
