do they really need a 2 TB HDD?

yes, they are using 95% of their 1 TB hdd :)

Would this be a good upgrade that will last them for many years to come?

They will not be gaming, just doing office things that parents do for work :)

i talked to my dad about this, but since 2x8 is 75 euros and 1x8 is 40 he just wants to upgrade down the road when they really need more ram :)

tmw someone's dad's office build is better than yours.

Anyways, looks good to me. I have heard the WD Black is a somewhat louder than many other HDD's (I have a WD Black, but nothing to compare it to), but I am really not sure if a Blue or something would be quieter.

You can use the stock coooler. Skylake makes very little heat.

Id suggest a i3 as the i5 is probally overkill for him.

they have a stock cooler on that Q9550.

its super dirty and hard to clean.

and the hyper 212 makes very little noise..

and the i5 is just so it lasts longer.. you could spend like 60 euros less but if that costs 1-2 years of lifespan it's not worth it to downgrade.
