CX series power supplies are supposed to have really cheap capacitors, so I agree.

I hold firm that I've seen people with much higher end parts with the CX430. I do agree, he should look into a 500+ W Antec HCG, EVGA B2, G2, GS, any XFX or SeaSonic

I like the 950 a lot. I am not a hardcore gamer though. It is enough to run all newest titles, but some (Witcher 3 for instance) will need to be set on medium quality (if you care about them frames). Also the ones with the semi active fans (which only turn on when you gpu hits 60 C) are very quite when you're not gaming which is nice.

I run an 8320 and 480 on one.. it has been going for a year. It has also seen a 6970 and 7950.

 

I think a 960 would be fine.

CX series power supplies are supposed to have really cheap capacitors, so I agree.

It's rated to produce the power safely, it's fine.

 

CX is not a terrible sku, it's just a value one. I don't personally use them on my builds but I have no trouble recommending them to people.

 

The system isn't exactly pulling much power from the wall.

CX430 only has a single 6-pin whereas most cards need 8-pin or dual 6-pins and adapters are a deathwish usually.

Honestly... You people on the forum act as if this PSU is worse then fucking Chinese piece of shits that have no brand.

The 950 is FINE as long as proper cooling is associated and isn't overclocked.

The CX is not meant for hours and hours of gaming time spent near its max rating. That's what kills them.

There is a good and bad Chinese. Those little metal boxes that they call PSUs are cheap. I can get a picture of my 300w HP PSU that ran my exact rig minus the SSD and the obvious PSU that replaced it.

There is a good and bad Chinese. Those little metal boxes that they call PSUs are cheap. I can get a picture of my 300w HP PSU that ran my exact rig minus the SSD and the obvious PSU that replaced it.

SeaSonic also have grey boxes....full of japanese caps and decent electrical performance. Don't judge a book by it's cover. CX look fancy but that's about it.
