I started playing CS:GO and I'm pretty bad. I have no idea what kind of matches I should play to get better and what type of matches I should play for fun. Should I play ranked matches to learn, or will I just get demolished. Have you got any gun tips for me, since I don't really know what the best guns to use are. What do you know now, that you wish you knew as a noob?

Thank you for reading and for the help. If there are any other noobs then Message me and we can play. Also, if there are any good players that want to play Message me as well :)

Ranked is not recommended if you have no idea.

Watch Warowl tutorials on youtube, some streams.

Play demolition or casual at first. Once you get an idea of movement and aim try deathmatch or arena community servers.

Play casual or death match to learn. The most fun game mode is demolition. Play these till you reach rank 3 then go into competitive.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

if your having trouble aiming because of the mouse or something ( I came from console and I did) you could hop in some bot matches and practice your aiming. Once your decent at that you could hop into unranked matches and practice how a real MP game works, as well as continuing to practice your aiming. I found that with this game and Black Ops 3, I only improved from practicing by continuing to play. I start with going 1-20 (K/d) and after 3-4 hours I was either even or positive K/D and placing in the top half of the scoreboards.

I'm a global, amongst a handful of others here. Probably just the most helpful by don's standards. Anywho...

Basically:

  • No matter how good you think you are with your sens, tone down your DPI to something like 400 / 1.5-3 sens. It'll make a world of difference. I switched from 1000/4 when I was DMG, and shot straight to SMFC after getting used to a lower and new sens.
  • Practice your sprays; again, doesn't matter how good you think you are. Fragshack is excellent for practicing sprays.
  • Don't take the game that seriously. Sure, play to win, but don't rage or yell at your teammate because they aren't playing well. Everyone has bad games.
  • Crosshair placement. Your crosshair should pretty much always be at head level unless you're spraying (in which case it should be following the spray) or if you're playing somewhere like Heaven in Overpass--even then, it should be head level relative to where they will probably come.
  • Pick a set of 3-5 maps and memorize them. Get comfortable on them. Learn smokes/flashes/mollies.
  • Watch your demos and figure out what you did wrong--and what you could change to do it "right", or better.
  • Watch pro play; they know how to play the game probably better than everyone on any forums you might find. Game sense only comes through playing.
  • Stop worrying about your rank.... it's really just a picture, no one who's good at the game really cares.
  • Find a group of 2-4 friends and play together. It's much more fun and it's not all on you to "carry", and no one will rage. So much better. Duoing is arguably one of the fastest ways to rank up.
  • If you don't have one already, get a good mouse. There's a ton.

  • Don't spray full auto like you're on Call Of Duty.
  • Learn to tap fire.
  • Do NOT touch ranked matchmaking until you learn how to aim.
  • Don't play with a stupidly high DPI mouse setting

fuck taping, I wish people knew how to burst instead. Bursting is by far the most efficient style of firing in cs:go, then it's spraying and only then taping.

It's been 6 months since i played, but i have a couple smurf accounts, at both Global Elite & Supreme level. Learning to tap fire, and be more conservative is a necessary thing to learn. And the first map i linked also shows the spray pattern, which OP can use to learn.

Hit Ctrl Alt Del, then bring up task manager, and then alt tab back into the game. It's a bug, i have it happen to me now and again.

Community servers are also a better idea IMO, you will be vs all kinds of ranks, i have been vs Supreme, Global, Silver, all kinds and won and got destroyed.

In 128 tick servers expect to be vs DMG+ a lot of the time, but it is good to go vs a much higher skilled group of people, and even play along side them as you do pick up on some things, but learning it will take a long time.

You need patience and a mind that wants to succeed to do well in this game.

I'm finding that sometimes not going for a kill can actually turn things around, it then turns sneaky beaky like.

Aim with come along by just playing a bunch.

I recommend watching CSGO events with quality teams. EnVyUs, Fnatic, TQM, Na'Vi etc. Watch how these players approach corners, coordinate flashes, and play after plant situations. This is where you will learn most tbh.

Just play and learn by doing.

To reach a certain skill level in CS you need Talent.

I got banned in CS 1.6 from so many Publicserver because those dickheads didnt understand the Game. CS is far more than just aim and shoot.
