Buying a new laptop (on a budget)

Hi,

I have a really REALLY old laptop (HP Compaq nx8220) and I need a WAAY more powerful laptop to work and play games on the go.

I need a quad core CPU with a dedicated GPU (amd or nvidia),4 to 8 GB of RAM and 15'' being the maximum size of the screen. My budget is  720 USD (Can be a little bit over).

Lenovo Y50 - you should be able to snag one for 800$ - definitely the best you can get for that budget

That's a little bit out of my budget.

But it's good value and is worth saving up for

wow, that is a lot to spend. What OS do you have running on you current laptop. I feel that if you install Ubuntu, performance is likely to increase.

Would you consider a second hand laptop?

Please dont use stupid fonts and font sized seeing as it makes you look like a retard, just like i now look like a retard.

-snip-

Specs wise it's a good buy. Haven't got a clue how the build quality and cooling is. Also it is quite a bit thicker then it appears to be, just a heads up ;)

Your font size is considerably larger than his, making you seem like the bigger "retard"

You seem to have missed the sarcasm in his response.

It's quite poor build quality and lackluster cooling since it's a single fan where the GPU and CPU share the heat makes it a rather poor choice. Also, apparently 40% of these machines have factory defects since I'm seeing a lot of people complaining about broken screens or boards

As did you in my response. I was making a joke about it.
