Make a video finally solving if positive or negative air pressure is better

Teemo4Life

Run a game, record the temperatures.

Test:

Most fans positive pressure (eg 3 fans positive 1-2 negative)

Most fans negative pressure (eg 3 fans negative 1-2 positive)

Do you think this will be a good idea for a Linustechtips vid?

No one knows which one is better.

Jayztwocents made a video about this

He just made a video explaining it. Same as Linus but no practical evidence. That's what I would like to see.

Just like the case fan video

There won't be a better choice in this, most people go positive to keep dust away from their PCs

they have talked about this and would have to set up multiple identical systems for months possibly years to get results. its just not worth their time

Neat idea, but IMO them benefit of proper air filtration and slower dust buildup via positive case pressure is far more valuable than the possibility of a 1-2 dec C temperature difference.

I swear they already addressed this in the video on the number of fans you need.  They didn't directly test air pressure, but they did test similar fan configurations and temperatures.

Really it doesn't matter in terms of thermals, fan placement in relation to components seems more important, but the rule of thumb is positive air pressure is better for keeping the dust in your system to a minimum.

Neither is better. There are too many system configurations to give a definitive single answer of which is better.

Moved to Air Cooling--please post in the correct subforum in the future. Do not just dump threads into General Discussion.

Its too much about personal preference. And evironment in general. Some people just like stuffing their case full of fans. In that scenario they will eventually end up with negative and claim that its better. People who aim to quiet their system go for basic 2 in, 1 out or 1 in, 1 out. Thats more positive or neutral. They too claim that its better. Even when someone has done video proving otherwise. And how would you test it realisticly? Dust build up takes weeks and thats most used reason for going positive.
