$600 Or So Build

Monti

I've heard about that and I've watch Linus's video about them. Are they any good? Because I don't really want to buy a 100 dollar SSD and a HDD just for added speed.

These videos  can explain the seagate momentus xt better than I can in words

It's not nearly as fast a ssd but it considerably faster than a hdd.

I reckon you're going to get a ssd anyway so just get one and skip the sshd. I advise to only get one if you have no other choice.

I might have to go with and SSD because the drive is 130 dollars and and SSD and HDD como isn't that much more.

For the motherboard do I need the 970 chipset or the 990fx chipset? I don't plan on overclocking.

You can also get a Seagate SSHD drive for simular price, just the parts picker thingy didn't have it on there, but you can get them from NCIX, i have one in a 2.5 inch format and its better than a normal HDD and cheaper than a SSD, so happy medium option.

got to love Asus components

What is the difference between the 990 and the 970 all I can find is that is helps OCing and SLi and Crossfire. Which I plan on not doing.

Ok. So if I make this build I will have to but all my other programs on the SSD. It adds up with tax to 650. But if I drop the SSD i can buy a CPU cooler and more storage. Speed isn't what I'm looking for in a drive. Load times don't matter to me. A 1tb WD blue is 70 dollars.

I had an idea. Would it be better to switch to an i5? Also I heard that one of AMD sockets is being dropped, which socket is it and will it affect me? Thanks everyone for coping with my question and changes.

Its all about cost, if you had a $1000 it would give you more choice, AMD is usually slightly cheaper build, however if you want m-atx intel m/boards are usually better.

most people have suggested an FX CPU as it offers good performance for the money. the FX5300 uses less watts / power (95w) and a real good happy medium all-rounder CPU. there is always better and faster components, if you can afford to get an i5 then sure, an i5 hooked up to a Gryphon Z87 m/board would be an awesome combo.

The link works. I just don't get why you have no case. You can get cheaper ram. Where are you getting your combo and why a plextor ssd? What about mass storage?

Okay the is my problem right now I can't afford an ssd and an extra hard drive. The case has stayed the zalman z11 case. The combo is from microcenter. The plextor was the cheapest 128gb ssd microcenter had. If you can find cheaper ram please place a link.

Edit: if isn't too much to ask can you try to make an Intel build with in the price range. I would like to see other options. Thanks for helping with my build questions.

Save yourself some money, and do most of the ordering online. Buy the CPU, motherboard, and case at Microcenter, and buy the rest online. You'll get better prices that way.

Also, if you can spend about $10 more, get the Samsung 840 EVO SSD instead of the regular 840. You can't go wrong with either of them, but the 840 EVO has faster write speeds.

An Intel build wouldn't be as nice at this price range.

Why no gpu?

Sorry that I was absent for a few days. I didn't have to look about what you guys were saying. Well I've come to the conclusion that I will buy a SSD later so I can spend a little more money on quality parts. Also I don't know what mother board chipset I need 970 or 990fx So I made a build with one 970 and one 990fx. The Asus 990fx motherboard had an overclocking utility that will do it for me. I like that because I don't know how to overclock. Unless I don't need to overclock for gaming (which I don't think you need to). Both build are the same except for the motherboards. A huge thank you to all of you for helping me "build" my new system.

Edit: The 970 doesn't have the overclocking tool unless it is a download that isn't mentioned.

Save your money and get the 970. 990FX is really only worth it if you have a 8350 and a better cooler.

$25 for a digital VRM, 4 PCIe x16 slots, along with other things, I'd say it's worth the jump, especially if you are a novice overclocker who wants to overclock, or if you become experienced and want better voltage regulation.

That why I looked into it. And the other question is the Gigabye GA-990FXA-UD3 has some good reviews on Newegg. But I don't know which to go for gigabyte of asus. the asus board is only 10 dollars more.
