Is this a dead pixel

Can someone tell me if this would be classed as a dead pixel.

 

On the screen it looks like a tiny black dot but close up it looks like an issue between the pixels.

not a dead pixel, just a few abnormal pixels. don't know what can be done about it

just an issue with the panel between those pixels

dont think anything can be done about that except RMA

Yeah, just a small defect, but not a dead pixel. Can't imagine it being super noticeable unless you're right on top of it, but if it is RMA is ASAP!

Alternative to LED LCD but still LCD ? ..older CCFL LCD's, which are worse in pretty much every way.

 

Non LCD though ..well..

 

Pretty much nothing if ur looking for 'new' items.

 

Used , u can go old school CRT (Sony GDM - FW900 is arguably the king of CRT's), or if u wanna go BIG, then a Plasma will work (42" Panasonic Plasma is what I use).

 

You other option is to play the waiting game, and wait for OLED, which brings the best of LCD (small form factor, higher than 1080p resolutions) to the best of CRT/Plasma. (Brilliant colour , perfect viewing angles, fast/instant pixel response, jet black blacks), but is taking its sweet timing getting here because manufactures are still able to milk LCD technology.

The Asus screen is being RMA'd and in the meantime I bought this.....

And it arrived today looking amazing.

 

BUT it is dead as a fucking Dodo. No power going to it at all. Such a shame.  It is also being picked up on Friday but at least they are dropping another one for me to try at the same time.
