Remember when Steve Ballmer called Linux a "cancer"?

Steve was special to begin with.

Microsoft Azure must be able to run dozens of linux distros, Microsoft are pushing the new cloud service hard. So it would make sense for them to offer a cert.

Intel I9-9900k (5Ghz) Asus ROG Maximus XI Formula | Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR4-4133mhz | ASUS ROG Strix 2080Ti | EVGA Supernova G2 1050w 80+Gold | Samsung 950 Pro M.2 (512GB) + (1TB) | Full EK custom water loop |IN-WIN S-Frame (No. 263/500)

It's simple business.

Linux is king in the server world, if MS want azure to succeed then they really have no choice but to do this.

I'm still kinda hoping they port some of .net over to Linux and bring some native parity and compatibility, yeah I know that'll never happen but one can dream, after all they just updated Visual Studios compiler to support Linux code natively.

This has been known for a while. It's part of Nadya's strategy, also why most got Windows 10 for free he basically wants to move all their business to cloud stuff not OS development.

Anyway dear MS: We do not see eye to eye but if you also bring Excel to Linux, we'll be cool for a long while.
