It's not too tall, it comes with a decent fan (the EVO version,) it's cheap, it cools good.. Yeah.

Cooler works great, fits on nearly any cpu, fan moves a lot of air at low noise, comes with thermal paste and a second set of fan clips (to go push-pull)

Main complaint is that the fan bearings suck.

If you want something that looks slightly cooler, the CRYORIG H7 looks incredible, cools well, and is extremely quiet. It's about the same price, too.

it's a great budget cooler. i have my i5 clocked at around 4.2 Ghz with a 212. completely stable

Pretty much what @Jamdude said.

It's a good cooler for its price. There are some other options which may perform slightly better for the same price, but honestly, it's not going to be a whole lot. It also just seems to be available EVERYWHERE, unlike competitors such as be quiet!, Cryorig or Phanteks (Noctua is pretty prevalent though, but at a different price point).

It's not a highly recommended cooler for no reason.

i have a 240mm AIO sitting in the closet and the hyper 212 is in my system...that says a lot...i use other fans on it in push pull that way i can spin them very slow and still have good temps with very minimal noise (one of the reasons the AIO is in it's box) and it look very good if you use fans with led like the white enermax tb vegas i use on mine.

so:
-It's quiet, and can be even quieter if you use better fans it push/pull
-It can look very good if you use something else than plain black fans on it<
-Quality is very good and it will last forever.

Good product for moderate overclock, i have my 4770K stable at 4.2ghz with 1.2v and i never go above 74c...gaming at around 62-64c. it's great!

I've got a couple of them cooling overclocked dual E5520s, and for a $29 CPU cooler it does an amazing job. Granted, my E5520s are only being overclocked from 2.2 to 3.2GHZ, but they are running BOINC projects 24/7 and I've never seen them get above 52C.

It's good but, the cryorig h7 is better. Plus pretty much everyone gets a 212 evo, the h7 is much more indie

It's probably one of the most highly-acclaimed aftermarket coolers I've ever seen, because it's cheap, small and cools very well for the price. I have one cooling my brother's computer.

 

Cryorig's coolers look better, though, imo.

I have it since 2013 and it perform very well I get my 3570k overclock to 4.8GHz@1.22V (1.256V in CPUz) around 68°C with fan at 600 rpm so really quiet with great overclock

You guys must have a Define R or something... I have a 212 EVO and the stock fan was freaking loud.  Great cooler though.

 

BeQuiet Pure Rock, or Cryorig H7 are better picks I guess... especially when you factor in the cost of a new fan(s).

You want some written reviews or just what forums has to say? 212 Evo was the one cooler everyone recommended for low budget until recently. Now Pure Rock and Cyorig H7 are getting more ground. Example Pure Rock vs 212. Pure Rock is better but only slightly. In some regions you need to pay bit more and it isn't available around the world like 212 Evo or 212+ (essentially same).

It's alright. For the money you really can take away an unbelieveable amount of heat with it. The included fan is nothing to write home about but it does the job.

I brought one the other day for overclocking. I5 4690k 4.3GHz @ 1.25v and it doesn't pass 70c on stress tests. Also to note I swapped the fan configuration on it to pull because my RAM was too tall. Very very happy with my purchase.

I got the Hyper 212X

 

It's very decent. I went full load on my i5-6600K and it got 74C max at an ambient temperature of 33C

A basic tip in CPU coolers - if it doesn't make your CPU go beyond 80C* at full load then it's doing it's job.

*80C is what I consider to be the highway to the danger zone (sing it!). Because the two PCs I had crashes going beyond 80C

My cousin used toothpaste as thermal paste with the this cooler and he still gets decent temps so it must be good

Probably the best bang for the buck aftermarket cooler.  In higher TDP situations it does seem to benefit from a fan upgrade - something with higher SP and CFM.  But then the total price negates it's prime asset.
