Hi folks,

I just noticed that card is getting really hot when i play and quiet at the same time. It reaches over 89°C in battlefield 3 on ultra settings, 1080p. I set fans to 60% and temps dropped to 82. After that i installed 2 fans next to graphics card which push air through card and set fans to 80%. Temp dropped to 75. Isn't it still too high?

It's fine up to 90c at load.

75 degrees under gaming load isn't terrible, but ASUS AMD GPUs are notoriously bad for cooling. Should've gone for MSI, Sapphire, XFX or Powercolor. ASUS is among the worst.

Seems to be the case with Nvidia too

Their 980ti and R9 fury seem okay though, at least according to hardwarecanucks.

2 of the heatpipes on the Fury don't even make proper contact

So it looks like i have the worst r9. Great. As long as temps will not cause any damage i am happy ;)

Temps are fine but I highly advise returning if possible since Asus also have the legendarily bad customer support. Long story short, if it breaks, you're on your own.

Weirdly they didn't have temperature issues (but the whine is here)

I somehow find it odd that the much-beefier Tri-X cooler is running hotter than a cooler designed for the 980 Ti. I call BS

No, you don't have the worst r9. The worst r9 is from gigabyte.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

I have found Asus hit or miss, my last GPU set up was Asus Strix GTX 660 SLI, Great cards I never had any major problems and they ran pretty cool(custom fan curve), I currently have an Asus Maximums Formula VI, The mPCI-E card just dose not work(currently out for RMA) but everything else on that board has been great, it over clocks like a beast.

Do you have a custom fan curve set?
