Issue with sound via HDMI from MSI R9 380

rcarteraz

So I have my LG IPS 24MC57HQ plugged into my GPU via HDMI. I've installed all the drivers for both. For some reason I cannot get the sound to work. My monitor has built in speakers and in the device manager. It shows AMD High Definition Audio Device and LG IPS FULLHD together for the sound. I don't what to do here. I uninstalled the drivers for both and still no sound. Anyone have any ideas?

if you are using monitor speakers regularly, you are doing it wrong. But if this is for occasional use, then that's fine.

Try resintalling Graphics card driver? I've had issues with the HDMI audio driver before. Use DDU to uninstall the driver before installing it again.

Do make sure the monitor is the default device first though. You uninstalling drivers might have broken everything though just FYI.

Welp... I'm an idiot. I thought for sure it did but you're correct. All it has is an audio output jack for headphones.... Hahaha. Don't I feel dumb now. Thank you.

if you want some very good price/performance cheap speakers, here you go: http://www.amazon.com/Thonet-Vander-Bookshelf-Speakers-Engineering/dp/B00HG1QRXK

wouldn't use these for anything professional, but as basic speakers they should be great.
