M.2 Help

I recently got an 850 EVO M.2 SSD and I can't get windows to detect it. My motherboard (Z97-A) bios can detect it in the devices but I cant seem use it. Any ideas?

There are 2 kinds of m.2 drives - sata and pcie. Perhaps your mobo only supports the sata version and not the pcie version or vice versa. 

 

Edit: did some research. The 850 evo only comes in the m.2 sata version and your mobo's m.2 only supports pcie so it will never work.

It's a sata 6gb.

Wait, so the BIOS detects it but not in Windows, is this correct? Where did you check in Windows to see whether the SSD is working?
