Thoughts on the FX 9590?

That CPU is a complete waste of moeny

8350 5GHz Dark Rock 3?

That might be good enough-might. As mentioned water cooling is far more optimal, with a 240mm radiator being preferred, though a thick 120mm rad will do.

just get an E chip of it. They're basically the same thing, it uses less power as well.

That motherboard isn't recommended by anyone in the FX forum for that CPU, why? Because it can't handle it, proof? That video.

That is why you check to see if your motherboard can support your cpu, sometimes I worry about people.

Just fyi, since you obviously don't know how overclocking works, it is not the clock speed that kills a CPU.

 

It is impossible to kill a CPU by making its clock run faster.

What kills a CPU is voltage and heat. Neither of which require overclocking to happen.

That is why you check to see if your motherboard can support your cpu, sometimes I worry about people.

 

It's not completely their fault, they get shown to support the chips but in reality the VRM they use cannot support the power draw for the 9xxx chips.

 

Can you link me to a 8350E chip? PcPartPicker only shows 8320E

I think it's your obvious AMD bias but are you aware that AMD FX series CPU's do not perform nearly as well as their price equivalent Intel counterparts, as well as the FX CPU's having half as many cores as advertised since each CPU core is paired together and is incapable of completing a set of instructions by itself, it's like shitty reverse hyperthreading.

What is the best overall AMD CPU? Mainly for Gaming, Editing, Streaming. Min Quad Cores. Under $200 but best overall I don't care

The FX 9xxx was made for overclocking, and is just rebranded 8320/8350s that are factory OCed.  Unless you have some OCing interest of that level then yes they are useless as you can get the other two for like 100 bucks cheaper than those 2 options.

The entire FX series is made for overclocking-just like the entire Netburst series.

more voltage makes the temperature go up, which is what can kill a CPU

with intel CPUs they will throttle when they get too hot, and shut down automatically at 105C for protection

 

idk about AMD CPUs, I know those can only go up to 62C, not sure about what security measures they have
