$500 Build with 960..............

EthanTheFrogMan

Hey guys, I built a PC a while back (4690k, 970) and now I am building another one

Goals:

The PC needs to be able to play GTA V (low settings 60fps 1080p)

The PC needs to be able to play Battlefield 4 (low settings 60fps 1080p) with a second monitor running

What I have so far:

8gb ddr3 hyper x fury 1866 ram

120gb SSD

1TB WD black

I would like to include a gtx 960 in my system, I would prefer the PC to be a mini tower or lan box, but if needed it can be a mid tower

for the remainder of items needed (motherboard, cpu, gpu, case, psu) I have a budget of $500

I do not understand the difference between a $59.99 gigabyte mobo on amazon and a $120 mobo on amazon?

I have a GTX 960 by MSI, and it runs GTA at High at 60FPS. I cranked BF4 to ultra and got 74 avg FPS. I would probably go with a low level i5 because games really love four real cores. In terms of mobo, really anything made by MSI, ASUS, or GIGABYTE should be good. As for PSU, don't get a corsair cx series PSU. There are good models by EVGA, XFX, and Silverstone. As for case, It's really personal prefence.

Snorlax: i7 5820k @4.5ghz, Asus X99 Pro, 32gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666, Cryorig R1 Ultimate, Samsung 850 evo 500gb, Asus GTX 1080 ROG Strix, Corsair RM850x, NZXT H440, Hue+

Smallsnor: Huawei Matebook X

Canon AE-1 w/ 50mm f/1.8 lens

Pentax KM w/ 55mm f/1.8 SMC lens

Zenit-E w/ 58mm f/2 Helios lens

Panasonic G7 with 14-42mm f/3.5 lens

Polaroid Spectra System

The 380 does perform better than the 960, expecially with the extra VRAM. I would consider it, as it should not cost more than a 960.

If I was going for an AMD processor would you go with a 7670k or FX8320k? http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/313/AMD_A8-Series_A8-7670K_vs_AMD_FX-Series_FX-8320.html

AMD CPUs for computers that have dedicated graphics cards (Don't get an APU)

FX 8350 (<$900) or FX 6300 (<$600) if you are getting a more expensive AMD based gaming computer. (

Athlon x4 860k (<$500) is you are getting a consoler.

Also the GTX 960 is poop, price to performance wise. AMD's last gen card (R9 280) bet it by a fair bit and cost less, and the AMD's new card in that price range beats it by about 15% (R9 285 or R9 380)

ok and what about the 7870k or 8320k

Just try to go for an intel chip. They run cooler, have better gaming and productivity performance, but are slightly more expensive. Have you seen the intel pentium G2358?

It's dual core, but you can put some mad overclocks on it,

If i was you i would get the cheapest damn motherboard that fits an intel i3 (<--you buy that too),then a corsair psu with around 500watts  (cheap as possible corsair never failed me) then you pick a cheap case and then you pick the most expensive/fastest card you can possibly get for the rest of your money

                                                                                      wow... pretty empty here...
