So I have quite a "ghetto" storage setup myself and want know if i'm alone or not   No this is not your computer setup but your hard drive/SSD setup specific.

Currently I have 1x320GB WD Blue Drive 1x250GB WD Caviar Drive and 1x128GB Samsung 840 Pro. Nothing is in RAID and all drives are mounted in there proper locations (except the SSD seeing my case if from 2002)

Please feel free to post your drives specifications such as power on cycles and even drive failure story's cause we all love it when that happens -_-

120 GB OCZ SSD and 1TB laptop HDD that's actually not bad as a storage drive.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I have a 256 gig SSD for boot drive, 1 TB SSHD for games, and a 1 TD external HDD that has nothing on it right now.

As for stories, I once caught a friends harddrive on fire using the wrong PSU wire.

As for stories, I once caught a friends harddrive on fire using the wrong PSU wire.

I had a molex fan wired up wrong in a system causing the 12v to overload and setting the hard drive on fire also  Out of pure luck the SSD was on a separate rail or something.

I have a tower. I use a 120gb samsung 840 ssd as a boot drive. 1 TB black WD HDD for programs. 1 TB Blue WD HDD for mass storage (files, videos, pictures). 60 gb crucial m4 ssd (was my old boot drive until I found out I needed more space and it was just a cheap quick buy when SSDs were a bit more expensive) which I use for files I want on my PC from my OneDrive account.

Use that 2tb HDD as a mass storage for files and videos. You can put all the programs on your SSD then.

1, 2 and 3TB Seagates, 360GB OCZ SSD as the boot & game drive.

While I'm posting this; the 1TB & 3TB drives both have reallocated sector errors, and the 3TB has current pending sector & off-line uncorrectable sector errors ... should I be worried?

yea i couldn’t believe how fast windows 10 startup is on my 850 evo i hit the power button and im looking at my desk top before i even get to my chair i considered doing raid 0 just because lawls! but i didn’t know if that would make start up any faster so now im putting the second 500g evo i got into my old laptop because that takes like 40 sec to start and i can handle it now that iv been spoiled with a 5 sec start up

Love the hard drive name :P But ya most likely your fine but probably best to keep backups and look at getting new drives. Never had good luck with Segates at work and at home (don't want to start a war) but ya :)

On main PC:

480 GB Sandisk Extreme 2

2TB Western Digital Black

1TB Western Digital Black

I plan on removing the blacks and giving them to a friend. I'll probably just get a second SSD to use as a scratch disk and have the main PC as all SSD (All of my data got moved to the NAS)

NAS:

240GB Sandisk Extreme Pro

Six 4TB Western Digital Reds in RAID10

Two 4TB Western Digital RE SAS drives in RAID1 (Holds shadow copies from main array).

Future plans include buying the other 22 4TB RE SAS drives to fill up my server and removing the Reds (They'll probably be used for backup and shadow copies in a external enclosure hooked to the NAS). Maybe another SSD for a scratch disk.

The reason I'm getting the ssd is so I can get rid of the hard drive noise. It's the only thing that I can still hear in my PC

LOL you can hear that? I can't hear mine. I can hear my fans a lil bit but it's still kinda quite. I can turn down the RPM of them but I like to have a bit more performance. I normally have headphones on anyway.

I put an old IBM drive in my system just to make it loud :P To the average person my computer is a piece of junk from the 90s.
