How to record a timelapse with OBS

Mbarton

Hey guys,

So im trying to record a timelapse video with a USB webcam nothing fancy im just trying record a plant growing from day one to a full tree.

I have OBS installed and can record the the plant in real time. but obviously that going to take a lot of space and time.

So is there a way to make a timelapse video with OBS? something like take a image every 30 minutes.

I  have GameServer`s And VOIP servers the only price is that you have fun on them.

I think there is a program that can make your webcam take a photo every X time interval.  What model webcam do you have?

By the way, if the tree is currently a sapling, it would be better if you just manually snap a picture of it every day from a fixed location.  It would take several weeks to months or even years for a tree to grow.

Lowest OBS can do is a frame a second. Your best bet is to get a program to take a snapshot when you set the timer.

What's the species of tree?  And do you know how old it is now?

If it's a plant like the saguaro cactus which grows about 1 inch a year... you are in for a LONG wait.  You could work with 1 photo a week or a month.

One of the problems and the reasons im using OBS is im on linux so unless any of those programs work well running under wine then that's not going to work ill try tho and let you know how it goes.

The webcam is a "Cisco VT camera 2" nothing special i just have a whole bunch so thats why im using it.

As for the plant its a avocado tree they can take four to six years to bear fruit, but i just want a time laps with is sprouting its roots in the clear water

Here is a image of what mine looks like right now

It should only take 6-8 weeks for it to germinate

This is what i will look like

Alright, I see what you want to record, there may be a Linux compatible program for controlling your webcam.  Do a Google search to so if any solutions pop up that works with your version of Linux.
