Hi, I am from the UK

I've got a small tech review website and I was wondering if it is possible to buy a product, review it and then return it within the 30 day window. Is this consider fraud? This is specific to the UK which I know had some of the best consumer right laws of any country, but still not sure on the specifics. Has anyone done it?

Thanks In advanced

If the shop you buy it from has a return policy then you could do it. There shouldn't be anything illegal abouy t it. You are breaking company policy, not the law.

Although, some stores won't accept that you return the merchandise of the seal is broken.

You could say that it's a bit douchy to buy, use and return, but that is a moral qustion that is up to you answer

You could probably do it and get away with it. However, if you get caught, you'll get more than account suspension. But without exchange/trade-in for something else, I know some sellers ding you for 15% restocking fee.

They are going to catch on quickly if you are returning everything.

I dont know if that is true, if you do it in person there's no way of them knowing, and plus John Lewis is well known for taking returns of items that people simply dont want upto a year after sale.

I think that it might be unethical, but it is done by many, even Linus said on the WAN show the other day that he was going to do it with his Microsoft Surface.  When you enter into a buying agreement with a seller the seller sells you the product in good faith with the return policy in place to help the consumer with any problem with the device or in some cases because you are not pleased with the product.  When you go in with the intention of returning after reviewing it gets a little shady.  I wouldn't do it but I understand why someone would want to, not everyone can get free hardware sent to them to review and sometimes when hardware is sent to reviewers it is on a loan basis anyways.  Tough to break into reviewing, good luck.

That exactly what I was going to do, big shops that can afford, not little independent. I would feel so bad doing that. Plus I have no sympathy for amazon anyway due to the amount of (or lack off) tax they pay.

Lol, how much is your guys tax?

I'm no economist but I believe corporate tax rates can be some of (if not the) highest in the world.  I could be way off though.  sales tax is 7.5% I believe but one can easily dodge that online for most everything

Whenever I go the US, I really annoys me how sales tax isn't included in the price of the item

I just add 10% in my head.  restaurants are worse where I live, there is an extra 2.5% tax on anything "eating or entertainment" or some bs like that, on top of the sales tax

In the UK is has to be in the price by law, plus here we dont tip as much as in the US only £2-5 if we have a good waiter if not then we dont tip

i wish. In my state, most wait staff make 2.13$/hr (never full time) and rely heavily on tips. 10-15% is considered a minimum. Absolutely insane to make customers pay your staff's living wage AFTER paying too much for a meal already lol

Woooooo you got me all fired up, let's tear it down!.... No?.. Ok
