Here is a link that describes A+:http://certification.comptia.org/getCertified/certifications/a.aspx

I thought about it but in my current position it just isnt the right thing. I might do some kind of networking instead.

Life is pain. Anyone who says any different is either selling something or the government.

I have 3 comptia certs A+ N+ and Sec+ and studied for all of them about the same way. Read a book, take practice exams learn the material. I would suggest for the A+ exam in particular to get a well documented exam guide. I got mine from Orielly publishing for about 30 bucks or so and it was quite good. good luck on the exam. It was a much easier test than the other two the microsoft certs are really about the only things easier to get. Cisco certs will make you want to fry your brains out.

Nice, that's pretty much the order I planned on getting mine. I'll check out that book.

Anyone else?

Reporting for duty - it's kinda useless, I have literally never used it :/

It can't be that hard if even @Slick can pass it.

A+ by itself is pretty much a useless cert however paired with other certs it makes you more competitive in the field. While the A+ cert doesn't have anything really to do with my job as I am in networking and infrustructure management it makes the N+ Sec+ and CCNA CCNP I have look more beefed up compared to competetion I have at work with people that just have the Cisco certs. The windows  and Novell certs I have really arent worth anything more than toilet paper in todays world.

AND TO THINK I ONCE LOVED YOU!

The certification is useless?

I find much of it is outdated (may have updated it since i took it?)

Also many employers don't recognise it for the point stated above OR they have no idea what it is

Although as stated by other posters if paired with other more specific certs It can look good and just add to your cert portfolio in general!

When my dad was in his 20's A+ was a super big deal, if you got A+ you could find a job. I don't find it to be that way anymore other than with groups like geeksquad

They have recently updated it to the 800 series and removed much of the old stuff that is no longer used and now includes newer technologies.

Yeah.... was pretty sure it wasn't "Suh-shole-eh"

It's not like it's THAT difficult. Btw, when are you or Linus going to post the storage server at the LMG-HQ in the 10TB+ topic? We're waiting.

It was his personal server before so I didn't have anything to do with building it meaning its his call to put up or not!

My personal raid doesn't hit 10TB (although it does as a JBOD) Once it's big enough i'll join the cool club :D

You can still post it, you'll just not be on the list. (Please do so ^.^)
