So, did Linus appreciate it?   :D

I bet Linus was the one who didn't know what it was.

i didnt even bring it up, I knew he wouldn't care - after being employed for a few months we randomly got on the topic of A+ and he confirmed my suspicions

I got it in my freshman year of high school at age 14. It's pointless now.

  • 4 weeks later...

AND TO THINK I ONCE LOVED YOU!

</3

I find much of it is outdated (may have updated it since i took it?)

Also many employers don't recognise it for the point stated above OR they have no idea what it is

Although as stated by other posters if paired with other more specific certs It can look good and just add to your cert portfolio in general!

When my dad was in his 20's A+ was a super big deal, if you got A+ you could find a job. I don't find it to be that way anymore other than with groups like geeksquad

Now we know the real reason you work with/for linus.

Its not like you could find any other jobs =P

Yarrrr, ye be warned lily-livered scallywags

There were actually a few other jobs that would have been a lot more "sensible" but I like this job ^_^

Was wondering if anyone is A+ certified, and what is the best way to prepare for the exam. Mine is scheduled about a month away and I have been using Testout.com and cert-blasters. Was wondering if there is something more effective.

The test is kind of easy. Here are the practice questions from the comptia.org website.

http://certification.comptia.org/Training/testingcenters/samplequestions/A-701-Practice-Questions/A-701-Practice-Questions-Answers.aspx

http://certification.comptia.org/Training/testingcenters/samplequestions/A-702-Practice-Questions/A-702-Practice-Questions-Answers.aspx

http://certification.comptia.org/Training/testingcenters/samplequestions/A-801-Practice-Questions.aspx

I had to sign in with a name and email before the site would let me access the questions so you might have to do that too. I just did qwertyu as my first name and asdfgh as my last name and used a fake email.

I plan on getting my network engineering degree at the community college level in about a year and a half and working for a company that will hopefully help pay for more education. I will have taken the Networking+ and Security+ test. With the degree I also have to take the Cisco academy classes which are 5 credit hours each and there are I believe 4 of them.

@Slick, what kind of computer education did you get and what would you suggest for guys like myself and @ologiic ? I read that here in the States, employment in the networking and security fields will increase about 28% in the next 10 years. Also someone on here gave me some advice and told me that if I want to get into networking, I need to know security because most of networking deals with being able to set up a secured network.

one more thing. I want to change my screenname to Vick Vinegar but only if everyone thinks that is funny. It's from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Don't know how I would do that though.

I get 60 frames at 1080p on a dual core APU. Ask me how.

AMD FX 8350 CPU / R9 280X GPU / Asus M5A97 LE R 2.0 motherboard / 8GB Kingston HyperX Blue 1600 RAM / 128G OCZ Vertex 4 SSD / 256G Crucial SSD / 2T WD Black HDD / 1T Seagate Barracude HDD / Antec Earthwatts 650W PSU / Coolermaster HAF 922 Case

700 series is outdated. It's 800 now.
