Do you guys prefer to use a controller over keyboard/mouse for games like Witcher III, CS:GO, etc?

If so...what is the best PC controller for these?

Xbox 360 controller, I use it for everything except rts games. The best controller is probably the xbox one elite controller, but it is expensive for my tastes, so xbox 360 for cheap people like me.

For those games... Mouse/keyboard is a must imho.

But for games that a controller works well, the xbox 360 is a time honored classic.

CS:GO and a controller don't go together...

I've tried it...... Went on my friend's account and a silver II game was challenging. Still won tho :P.

Also, ever tried the console version? Never updated, I always ran into that pole in B-Tunnels on Dust II.

I have both a 360 and a One controller. I MUCH prefer the One controller but I never use them for anything that isn't a driving game but that's just preference.

PS: I don't own a console, got both just for PC

Most people don't anymore, but there was a day in which basically controllers were the only way to play random titles so nearly everyone had them.

Skyrim for example sucked BALLS in vanilla with a mouse and keyboard.

Plus controllers have non-two way switches (aka you can throttle the speed) which is obviously crucial in some games.

"analog input"

Very important for driving games so you can turn/accelerate however much you want rather then all or nothing

Also games like Rocket League where the analog stick is crucial.

Technically even analog wouldn't be needed, but yes analog sticks are an easy solution to many issues.

360 controller and mouse is ideal. I don't understand why people want to use a keyboard and four directional arrow keys. (wasd)

I was using a Logitech Wingman with a mouse back in the day when I was playing Unreal Tournament. I have no idea where the controller is any more, though. But support for it has probably gone by the wayside any way.

I've never used a One controller, and I'm not motivated to buy one. Our wired 360 controller is a-ok.

<<<<OPINION WARNING>>>>

Main reason I also got the One controller was for multiplayer. If your getting a new controller anyway, I would recommend the One controller (and a micro usb cable). It's has much more tactile buttons and less 'mushy' analog sticks. WAAAAAY better d-pad. I also prefer how it fits in my hands.

IMO

Nah I get you. I like opinions. I'm sure the One controller has advantages over the 360's old design. I only meant that it's adequate for me (us; my kid uses it occasionally too) and it's still in perfect working order so I don't really have a reason to replace it yet.

Everyone has different tastes, I use a controller for racing/fighting games, sometimes the occasional shooter or 3rd person game like Batman/Shadow of Mordor.

I also use a controller for emulation.

I prefer mouse and keyboard for most of my games, but use a xbone controller for those games that benefit from it i.e. darksouls or a racing game.
Corsair Scimitar and Witcher 3 is my prefered way to play the game,

Higher frame rate over higher resolution.

I would say half of my gaming is done with a controller, games like FPS, RTS, RPGs are played with keyboard and mouse, third person games, platformers etc are done with a controller

so Fallout, Metro, Battlefield, Diablo etc those games are 100% keyboard and mouse

and GTA V, MGS 5, Dirt, Assassins Creed - I play with controller

Good luck playing Devil May Cry on keyboard. I finished DMC3 on hard. I was very stupid and naive. Don't even try.

There are many games that provide much better experience with a controller. That was not a sex jokes.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.
