Reference 290x is shit. Super loud super hot. He probably did that benchmark at 100% fan speed.

That pic you have at 60% still seems like non-reference.

Reference 290x's @ 60% fan speed still hit towards 94*c am I right?

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

No. 60% fan speed at 85 is about right. I was mainly wondering if the benchmark score was fine

Seems about right, my aftermarket 290x @ 1040Mhz was around 60-61fps.

And yeah, Reference 290's are easy to watercool... beyond easy. (Just depends if its worth the cost)

At what settings? And honestly I don't want to spend too much to cool the card because I already am paying $175 for it

Honestly I cannot remember, this was over a year ago.

Google a few 290x reviews, they would have used heaven @ 1440p in some of them surely.

Bullshit that temp is not obtained at 60% fan speed. 55% fan speed is UBER mode btw. Everything hits 93-95C. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7457/the-radeon-r9-290x-review/19  https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Radeon-R9-290X-Performance-Analysis-522/page2

But how the hell can we know if that benchmark score is ok when it shows custom preset. Have him run 3dmark or something standard you can actually compare to. Besides most of the reviews of it are going to be massively out of date for the newer driver updates.
