6core/8core skylake

Go to solution Solved by Curufinwe_wins,

nope no information as of yet.

Probably not.  That's what X99 is for.

They probably will. But on x99, and they will be $150-800 more expensive. and most likely not for some months

YES THEY WILL EXIST. NO, they WILL NOT use or be compatible with the z170 chipset.

It will be the successor to the x99 chipset. Convention has tentatively suggested x109 as the name.

It will arrive sometime around the Q2-Q3 2016. http://wccftech.com/intel-processor-roadmap-leaked-10nm-cannonlake-skylakee-arrives-q3-2016-skylake-muy-chips-q4-2015/  EWW wccftech article, BUT intel "leaks" like this are exceedingly accurate.

does anyone know if there are plans to release any new 6 or 8 core proccesors for the skylake line?

No, the only Skylake processors that will be 6 and 8 cores are the Skylake-E line up.

Broadwell-E should be Q1, 2016 with 6/8 core variants (i7, 22 core Xeons)

Skylake-E should be Q3, with 8/10 and possibly a 12 core variant (i7, Xeons are rumoured to be 28core)

Also we will be getting Kaby Lake on the mainstream platofrm (Skylake Refresh), in Q2
