390x Xfire on 750w

FruitBasketSilex
Go to solution Solved by DarkBlade2117,

I would go for 850w minimum

Possible to crossfire two 390xs on a 750w 80Plus Gold power supply? Exact model is a Corsair RM750.

Yeah, I would've too, if I knew I was going for a 390x from the start of my build in February, but I'm just wondering if I can scrape by, or if I should pick up a 1kW psu whenever I get a second 390x.

If you have the money to upgrade the PSU when you get the second card, then do so. Something like an EVGA G2 1000W would be a good choice. Plenty of room for upgrades and OC with 1000W.

If you start iut with a single 390x that is fine, if you ever decide to crossfire in the future get a 850-1050w PSU. 850w would allow for minor overclocks, 1050w to allow for any future SLI or crossfire setup in the future snd some hefty hefty overclocks.

Ehhhhhhhhh........

I really wouldn't on that PSU.

That seems to be the general consensus, and I kind of figured I would have to get a new one anyways.

I'll pick up a 1kW PSU when I get a second card. Currently awaiting my first to arrive in the mail. ^-^

It will work but too close for comfort as in an extra fan might make it go overboard..

850w gives you headroom I would go with a 850w g2

If you get a 1kw you better be going 3 way

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

I know how to pick a power supply, bud. ;)

I don't need it right now, though. I'll need it when I get a second card. Still waiting on my first one to get here.

yes

Not a bad idea.

4k monitor, two 1440P ultrawides, maybe even just three 4K monitors, and 3 390xs.

Might need to look into doing this.

Depending how many drives you've got connected - probably better to get a better psu tho in the longer term
