Justing skyrim, the fan on my gpu is silent, this was confusing as normally it isnt loud but you can hear it, i alt tab, 120oc. ANime style my jaw hit the ground, after sorting jaw jaw out i put my fan custom profile on, dunno why its off but damn that would of been the end of it. btw the fan was at 10% for some reason, f u too catalyst control.

pfff my hd 4870x2 did that once to but the fans where at 100% and it was still at 120 degrees

Auto shutdown did not kick in? Normally it would for such high temps.

The auto shutdown works with my cpu but seems liek my gpu doesnt care.

If it was at 120 degrees celcius, you either misread it or it was a sensor/software error, since no hardware made these days will allow itself to exceed 105 degrees under any circumstances.

What did Windows ME do, I used to have it.

It killed a ton of hardware. Maybe that was why my dad's computer's motherboard melted.

I used beta drivers, could of been  a glitch as to why it didnt auto switch off, gpuz and gpu meter both read the same thing.

Well, not literally. The thing died, though.

The temperature protection is locked to the firmware, so unless you flashed the BIOS, you're gonna shut off at 120 degrees. c

Gtx 480... :) those things ran near 100*C all day every day I read xD

Remember the time that I was taking one of my 570's to my girlfriends house, and I left it on the roof of the car (in a box with padding) and it hit the deck when I went around a corner. Still works fine, after flying out of the box and lending on a corner. Bent the shroud a little, but I just filed it away and its back to normal :DvUpQ6gh.jpg
