For light - medium gaming.

jhxx

Hola,

I've been looking to build my first ever PC, and I've thrown together a little something.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hwwdRB

Would this be able to run games like:

*Garrys Mod

*CS:GO

*DayZ

*Arma

Also, what problems would I encounter with it? I'd like to know these so I could plan to deal with them, etc.

Anything useful is appreciated, if you're going to be a twat, don't bother, thanks!

You don't have to pay almost 100$ for Windows 10.

You can get a key for 20-25$ on eBay.

Since when are Arma, CS:GO and Garry's Mod unoptimized? ôo

Only DayZ sucks.

Arma rapes only one or two cores.

CSGO and Garry's Mod are on the Source engine. That engine is fucking awful.

Okay, I can understand what you mean with Arma, but the Source Engine, really?

Even the crappiest cards can achieve high frame rates on Source.

No, it's not the graphics card that limits it, it's the fact that the source engine also rapes a single thread :P

Get this, and do yourself a favour and look on Craigslists for a GPU. You're gonna get way more bang for your buck buying used. I know that it's only a dual core, but at least it has an upgrade path and in the future you can get an i5, and in the meantime you can overclock the G3258 to like 4.0GHZ with the stock cooler, which is pretty good. You will need to update the bios for you motherboard, though I think Windows 10 does that automatically.

Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($42.89 @ OutletPC)
Case: NZXT Source 210 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($38.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($29.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $271.08

But it works fine. So I don't see a problem.

Even integrated GPUs that aren't meant for such aplications can run it fine.  :)

You've never played a Source engine game in a 16:9 resolution, have you.

Yeah, I only play in 13:37  B)

No, really.. Wut?! o_o Almost everyone plays at 16:9. 1920x1080 is the most common resolution and because of that I used to play CounterStrike Source in that exact same resolution.

Or also Counter Strike: GO, or Portal 1 and 2 and there are probably quite a lot more if I could remember.

I also tried to play them in 21:9 3440x1440 which workes really well.

Still, the Source engine is pretty damn sloppy. Team Fortress 2 and CSGO shouldn't be able to chew through 1GB of RAM.

Why not? Cities chews through almost 5GB.

1GB seems totally fine for a game like CS:GO.

You cannot expect a game to run at 300FPS on a Pentium with half a gig of ram.

Repeat:

Four things;

*Room to add/expand in case?

*Will this run the games I listed? At decent specs

*Do I need an SSD?

*Can someone link me to a cheaper key for Windows? And is it legal?
