Do you prefer Nvidia or AMD?

Morman

960 costs 250$ here ._.

960 aint that bad here it's about 300 ish depending on what manufacture and whether it's OC/SSC and the RAM on it. The "high-end" stuffs are the problem here

Freesync puts amd over the top because freesync monitors are so much cheaper than gsync.

Combine that with amds better price to performance and amd makes more sense unless money is no object.

I find it very interesting that every survey I see shows a 40%:60% split yet the market share shows 20%:80% - Interesting - makes you think which is likely to last longer.

I think that has a lot to do with sample quality. LTT forum members don't necessarily accurately represent society at large, after all...

Anyway, I prefer Nvidia and have done since I first got a computer of my own about a decade ago. Since then I've had a 7600GS, an 8600GT, a GT520, a GTX560Ti and now a GTX970. I have recently warmed to the idea of Radeon graphics though, so while I would still rather commit seppuku than ever run an Intel CPU, maybe one day I will switch sides on the GPU side of things. Maybe...

I've also seen similar numbers on other forums however. I guess it only applies to tech-savvy users. Pre-builts usually feature intel/nvidia as they sell more that way. As for CPU - AMD's current chips are old sadly - hopefully Zen comes back strong. Athlon X2, Phenom I and Phenom II were very good chips.

I know. FX is a bale of crap, but Zen should bring back some Phenom-esque single-core performance...

I do actually have some experience with Radeon graphics, because I've got an AMD APU in my laptop. It's not doing too well at the moment, because the video engine is slowly dying, resulting in regular bluescreens when trying to watch any kind of video. Still, seeing how roughly I've treated the laptop, I squarely blame myself for that, and not AMD.

I prefer whatever gives me the best performance pr dollar, im never gonna get why some people are so single minded when it comes to this, worshiping one company or the other, as if either of the companies really gives a sh..

My previous 4 cards have all been NVIDIA, because that was the best card i could get for the money, this time around i could go with either a 970 or a 390, i chose a 390 because it costs less here than a 970 and the performance is equal or if not better.

This Fanboyism bulls... really needs to stop. not that im pointing at anyone here, but just in general.

I went with Nvidia because out of the last five cards I have owned, two went 'pop' rather quickly, and both were AMD. At the end of the day, they are both as good as each other but I will stick with the ones that have been most reliable for me.

Couldn't agree more. People argue over graphics cards like they were comparing two great vintages .... now wines are worth the debate as there are discernible differences that  can be detected, but with cards the differences of like cards can only really be judged on paper.

There is a difference between fanboyism and brand loyalty, though...

I'd say we should just abstract ourselves from our personal opinion and recommend the better product. I get called out for recommending a 390 over a 970 but it's simply the superior product currently - same for a 960/380. I'm not trying to argue a Fury X is better than a 980 Ti cause in 99% of the cases it's not. But when literally every source on DX12 and DX11 is showing differences from 5% to 35% in favor of the 390 I just feel awkward recommending a 970 ._.

And there you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. I'm loyal to AMD when it comes to CPUs and Nvidia when it comes to GPUs, but I wouldn't recommend a product of either company to somebody if said product was demonstrably worse than that of the competition, even if I would still be tempted to buy it myself.

Very true and im all for someone sticking to what they trust, i almost wanted to go with the 970 just because my last 4 cards have been NVIDIA, but i took the plunge and tried something new, because it was cheaper and offer the same or better performance. Some people just dont look at the facts and insist that AMD is absolute horseshit, yet they have probably never owned a card themself, i mean we have a danish forum where people discuss / buy and sell hardware, a little while ago someone asked the same question that people ask here alot "390 or 970?" and the 3 first comments were just "AMD FUCKING SUCKS, BUY NVIDIA".
