Look at the features between them, and pick the one that has what you need.

Often the Z boards will have better audio, more USB ports, etc etc. Something you might not want to skimp on.

They can also sometimes be so close in price (sometimes cheaper) to an H series board you might as well get the Z.

 

 

since your cpu can't overclock, just get the H97.

There are other differences between Z and H.

Just because he's not overclocking, doesn't mean he won't make use of other features.
