This week on "Why does this exist?" we are going to take a look at the 750 Ti 4GB. Take this as a friendly contest - if anyone can justify the existence of this product - he picks the next product.

Mineral oil and 40 kg aluminium heat sinks are a perfect combination: 73 cores and a Titan X, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Oil

From what I gather it's great for people working with big textures, modeling and video editing. Please correct me if I'm wrong, this is what I heard, I do none of these and the video editing that I did a few years back just required a really fast CPU and tons of RAM. :D

 

Edit: Main reason is bragging rights to your friends. How you have twice the VRAM even though he has a 50% faster GPU. :D

The 960 cannot make proper use of 4GB, let alone the 750 Ti :D - that's like a R7 250X with 4GB.

The 960 cannot make proper use of 4GB, let alone the 750 Ti :D - that's like a R7 250X with 4GB.

Completely agreed, I even considered an R9 270x 4GB and then it hit me that I'm not an idiot... :D

Anyway, I heard that they killed off the 2GB 960, there is only 4GB now, it was in tech news yesterday I think.

Anyway, I heard that they killed off the 2GB 960, there is only 4GB now, it was in tech news yesterday I think.

Well now there's even less reason to buy a GTX 960 than there was already...

The GTX 750ti was a relative success for Nvidia, and they noticed that they had some spare Vram lying around so they put 2 and 2 together to get a potato. Using CEO math it almost equals 5 so its gotta be good, right? Also because non-techie consumers don't understand 'specs' outside of "how many GeeBees does it have?"

960 Turbo has a big blunder with VRMs - they reach 100*C :D
