Have you tried to reinstall the os on a fresh ssd? Your hard drive might be either old or damaged.

I'm still saving up for an SSD. I have to admit my Primary OS installed hard disk is about 2-3 years old approx. but is that the reason for this slowness ?

Yeah, looks like you need an SSD.

Desktop: i9 11900k, 32GB DDR4, 4060 Ti 8GB 🙂

Why do you have a 750ti with an i7?

Well originally I had a Pentium G3258 overclocked version but quite recently I upgraded to i7 . Don't worry, Soon enough, I'll bump up to a GTX 970 for sure.

Yes I am pretty sure it is. I have a computer that is 3-4 years old. Very snappy when I first bought it. After a while it slowed to a pathetic level so I decided to reinstall the os. But that did not help either. Games run fine but the windows file manager takes years to open folders.

It won't be helping, that's for sure, have you defragged it recently (windows should do it automatically, but might be worth a shot), maybe clearing the recycle bin if you haven't already.

Yeah... I did defarg. Didn't help so far. Tried CCleaner as well and cleaned all Temp files, restore points and all junk etc.

nothing to do with the issue, it's just extremely imbalanced, but you said it was coming from a G3258 and going to a 970 so it's all good.

Oh, okay. :) . BTW, i7 turbo boosts to 4.4 Ghz but I've been using MSI OC genie and it gets me to 4.5 Ghz, but my idle temps are at  55 degrees and shoots up when video rendering to 80-90 degress, is that a cause for it to become slow or is it the SSD thing ?

that's pretty bad, which cooler is it?, if it's the stock cooler, you should really bother OCing at all, thermal throttling often ensues even at stock speeds.

an SSD will likely help with some tasks, booting, and rapid storage and retrieval.

Okay then. Until i get a liquid cooler, i'll get it back to stock speeds. And Yes, It's the stock cooler.

That's pretty hot for rendering, but it's not going to affect performance at all with everyday use. The reason it's slow is probably because you're using a hard drive (I'm assuming everything takes 5-10 seconds to open?). It doesn't matter whether you have a pentium or an i7, you're going to be bottlenecked by the hard drive in terms of how snappy your PC feels.

This core i7 - 4770K is new and since I run it at stock cooler, I'm running it at stock speeds (4 Ghz) . While rendering it maxes out at 80 Degrees. I've got projects to render, huge projects and render will go on for about 6-8 hours or so. Can it handle it on around 80 degress for those 6-8 hours or should I buy a liquid cooler like corsair H100i GTX  ?

It can handle it, but I'd recommend getting something like a Hyper 212 Evo instead unless you're doing serious overclocking.
