Your pc is already fairly good. Get a 980ti.

That would be hella overkill for Minecraft imo.

You have a very balanced setup, really. The first thing to upgrade is.... your OS. No kidding, either get 8.1 or 10, they are better for gaming than Win 7.

 

Next, I'd honestly upgrade your monitor. Even if you were to get a better GPU, you wouldn't really see it spread it's wings with such "limited" display.

Your pc seems fine granted the cpu is a little old but it's still got some good power all things considered, I say if your pc is still running fine (no cpu/motherboard related problems) your good for now

Your pc is already fairly good. Get a 980ti.

He does not need a 980ti for 1080p. If you don't plan on getting a higher resolution display, your current setup should be fine. No cpu/mobo upgrade will give you a noticeable fps boost.

Meh I would not upgrade yet.

What monitor do you have? A decent 24-25 inch 1920x1080p monitor would work great. Then wait until the next series of GPUs and CPUs come out.

10 maybe be better when dx12 gets rolling but the difference between 7 and 8 are insignificant for gaming, it's the way your 8 or 7 is setup that matters.

A 980Ti would bottleneck that i7-2600

Yes, Intel CPUs are better but they are not god like things. His 970 is more then enough for hos CPU.

On a 1080p monitor, there won't be a difference. 100fps and 200fps look the same on a 60hz monitor.

Upgrading the OS will help and is cheaper than a GPU (Windows 10 is FREE)

 

As for GPU if they are only playing at 1080p, then the 970 is fine, a CPU & mobo upgrade would make more sense especaily if they could afford the 980Ti.....

Your PC is pretty much optimal for 1080p gaming. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket buy a 500GB SSD.

I just bought the 970, but if i play wow, i get stuck between 30-60 fps, if i want to record gameplay i lag alot and fps drops to 20.

What's your source on that? Benchmarks I have seen have 7 and 8.1 pretty much at the same performance, with 10 lagging a little behind since it's new.

Your PC is pretty much optimal for 1080p gaming. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket buy a 500GB SSD.

Would that speed up my fps in overall games?

I just bought the 970, but if i play wow, i get stuck between 30-60 fps, if i want to record gameplay i lag alot and fps drops to 20. 

Something different is wrong with your pc.

Might be some driver issue, if your windows is a couple of years old just do a new install.

It takes like 30 minutes with a usb stick.

For example, ( in gaming ) the FX-8350 is only 2% slower. Single threaded, the i7-2600 is better but not enough to stop a bottleneck. I,would go no higher then his current 970.
