Is this truly acceptable from MSI?

Motherboard manufacturers solely pander to gamers these days, and given the priviliged nature of these people (demonstrated by this topic) i don't envy them.

But since we're the only ones still buying stuff, they have no choice.

That said, since they pander towards gamers, who still uses that many disks? Do you? I don't. 95% of this forum doesn't. I don't mind stuff not being there that won't be used anyway.

A 970 board and a 9590? That thing isn't on the support list for a reason.

What's the problem with these sata ports?

Since when do you see such a board with such a terrible SATA layout?

My Asus H87M-Pro has a better SATA port setup than that

The reaction on that video was so nonexistent, I would think that the flames were intentional. How did it catch fire anyways?

1. It was an FX 9590

2. The fire was expected

3. MSI Krait are shit

Oh no, having to use an angled SATA cable, the horror. Not to mention that the SATA ports are where you probably will never have something covering them. By the way, if you use a 9590 in a 970 board and get surprised it catches on fire, you're a fucking idiot. The thing draws more power than the board can support.

Angled SATA connectors are *slightly* more expensive, allow for better cable management and therefore better airflow.

At least the x99a Sli Krait has mostly angled sata ports.

It's just the SATA Express that's not:

I should have saved a bit more and gone X99 instead of getting the Sabertooth and 4790K. That motherboard doesn't look like its a half-assed POS like the Z97 Krait.

I thought the good AMD motherboard was the Krait and the 970 gaming.

Guess not.

The Krait has a weaksauce VRM and the gaming uses cheap Nikos caps so neither are that great. But the 970 gaming is better than some of thet other 970 boards.

I still stick to my resolution that the M5A97 EVO R2.0 is still the best AM3+ experience on 970 chipset. The 970-UD3P offers more vrm phases but with worse heatsinks and a super buggy UEFI.

When my wife's machine died I gave her my 4790k and went with a 5820k/MSI x99a Gaming 7 setup.

The Gaming 7 has the same SATA Express setup (normal sata's are angled), but really who's honestly going to use it, you'd just get m.2 or a PCIe SSD...lol
