ASUS vs Gigabyte GTX970?

Hemanse

This question have probably been asked quite a few times, but here it is again, i lost my 770 that i thought would last me quite a while still a week ago, so now im looking for a replacement for the R9 370 that im using at the moment.

So far after reading quite a few reviews, i have kinda settled on either getting a ASUS Strix or Gigabyte G1 970, not sure yet which one i should get, the only thing that would hold me from getting the Gigabyte card would be the noise, so how does it fair against the Strix? I know the Strix have the 0db thingy, but how do the compare at load?

MSI is out of the question after the treatment i got from them with my 770 card. I like the things i hear about EVGA customer service, but i also dislike the fact that their 970s dont come with a backplate.

I have also read that the R9 390 might be a better choice, been using a XFX 370 for a week now and the concerns i had with the drivers are atleast gone, seems to run just fine, even tho the AMD Catalyst control center could use a refresh, looks pretty outdated. What i dont like is the heat this thing outputs, but then again, the 370 also have to work hard to do anything, its working overtime just playing Hearthstone :)

I would get a 390 imo

If you get a Sapphire 390 you shouldn't have any problems with heat it can run the same temps and sometimes 1-2C colder than the 970

But if you want 970 I would get EVGA

Gigabyte's G1 are the best 970s for the money - be careful to check your case can fit it, they are very long.

Most people will just say get a R9 390 though.

370 is having a hard time with hearthstone? really? Wow - that shouldn't be happening - did you use DDU to remove 770 drives?

My gigabyte 970 has a stock speed of 1443 Mhz

It has a stock boost speed of 1443MHz is more accurate. Not everyone will achieve that. My Windforce 970 didn't achieve that at stock.

I've heard only Gigabyte and Asus complaints about this actually. I can confirm Asus do it on any card they make (2nd I've had)

MSI is out of the question tho, their customer service, atleast here in Denmark is absolute garbage, never dealing with that again, all the cards i have seen that are on sale here when it comes to EVGA have no backplate, dont really want to have to buy a seperate one :)

I would get a 390 imo

Cool, Sapphire seems to be the go to card for AMD, looks very plasticky tho :)

Probably worded it right, it runs just fine, but the 370 isnt exactly a fast card, so the fans get quite noisy just playing lesser games.
