What fallout should I start with?

So I know it's a shame but I haven't played any fallout game ever. Everybody  is going insane about the new fallout game, Fallout 4, but I haven't really been on that hype train, if you know what I mean. So my question is: Should I wait for Fallout 4 to come out and make that the first game in the franchise I play? Or should I play fallout 3? New Vegas? How about 1 and 2? Let me know!

Also maby a list in what order I should play them all would be nice. I've heard it takes a very long time to play through even one of the games, let alone all before the release of Fallout 4. Also does anyone know if it will run on an r7 270x 1gb?

Thanks for everyone anwsering my questions ^^

With love,

It doesn't matter I personally like new vegas over 3 but just an opinion, just ignore the first two i'd say, there good for their time but that was over a decade ago. As for fallout 4 you might be able to play it a lower settings.

I know you can run 1-3 on that hardware but I started with 3, 1 and 2 were made by a different company so I don't think the story continues and 3 and NV have different story's it's like it's own story per game just some lore that is related so you can start with 4 but 3 is a good one to play right now while 4 isn't out

1 & 2 are very old school I have them from what I seen you need to sit down and read the manual. Esp for me since I wasnt PC gaming them.

between 3 and NV I prefer 3 both will do you though.

3 is my favorite.

New Vegas is good too because I feel like it has more mod support.

Play Fallout 3 no matter what, that one is just awesome. Then pick up NV if you enjoyed 3 enough and want more.

I don't think you'll need to know the storys of the previous games, but there are probably a lot of references to the older Fallout titles in Fallout 4.

I would recommend to play at least Fallout 3. If you want to play them all, then in the following order:

Fallout 1 -> Fallout 2 -> Fallout 3 -> Fallout New Vegas -> Fallout 4

But like you said, it will take you a long time to get through all of them.

1 & 2 are amazing games, but they have aged badly (graphically) in my opinion, which will be a big no no for some people.

Start with 3 or New Vegas, which are going to be a lot closer to the Fallout 4 experience than 1 & 2. luckily, they are just set in the same time period instead of being proper sequels so you should really 'miss' anything. You could probably mod them too if you wanted too.

and we will live such tragedy in perpetuity.

Fallout 3.

You will never finish FO3 and NV before Fallout 4 Launch.

To get ready for Fallout 4 I'd suggest playing either Fallout 3 or New Vegas. Fallout 1 and 2 are top down turn based RPG's, so completely different than Fallout 4 would be.

You could play New Vegas and then read on the wiki about the lore and whatnot so you know what's happened to the world and how it's developed over the years.

I prefer Fallout 3, but others prefer New Vegas, mainly because of controls and the questing/skill systems are a bit different between the two.

Fallout 3 isn't optimized for any windows starting with 7 so it takes some finagling to get it to work, there is that. 1-2 are really good, should be played in order. New Vegas is less of a game than 3 but is able to run on a modern version of windows. And Mods.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Both are awesome but i prefer FO3 too. Simply because the World is realy fucked up with all that Mutants ect. NV is almost civilized against that :P
