Windows 10 status

Hello everyone

 

I am running Windows 7, but I am considering upgrating to Windows 10.

I have not been keeping up with the Windows 10 news lately. I know there are some issues regarding privacy and that Microsoft dont intend to change their privacy policy on this subject...

 

So I thought that you might be able to fill me in on recent windows 10 news that I havent heard about? 

Stuff like:

-any major bugs that havent been fixed?

-performance related stuff?

-privacy?

-any other stuff???

You should upgrade. Most of the privay conserns like MS reading your e-mail and looking at your files and disabling pirated games are wrong. If you are fine with them collecting stuff like how you use autocorrect in modern apps, you have nothing to worry about.

Until you actually download it and install it on your particular system, you really won't know how much you like it or not.

 

There is rumors on memory leakage, privacy and stuff but like I said it depends on what system you have, and how clean of an install is completed.

 

Personally, I just turned off all the privacy stuff I could find. I found the boot time to be super slow. I did a disk cleanup and found 8-10GB of the old OS waiting to be cleared. After clearing that stuff up it's back to normal speed.

 

But that's just my experience so....

 

 

Edit: OH and I removed that hideous search bar on the taskbar. So you know I could actually see what applications I have open.

works great for me

the privacy stuff doesn't matter to me, even if you disable all that stuff in windows 10 anyone who wants information about you can use other methods

it doesnt affect performance, but if youre on mobile you might want to disable it so that it uses less network data

I'm running MSX Windows 10 at home and work. I've had no bugs, and the resource demand is actually slightly lower than Windows 7.

As far as privacy goes, I got a free OS. I'm not getting any more emails than I used to, nor am I getting junk mail. My life is in no way affected by the sample submission. If anything, I hope the data they get from me helps them improve the OS in some way. Fair trade, in my personal opinion.

My only issue is they've focused it more on the needs of non-professionals and everyday users. I tweak a lot, and I work in IT, so there are a lot of extra steps in doing things now vs. earlier Windows editions.

I'd strongly advise upgrading because then you will be more familiar with windows 10 if your work decides to upgrade thier OS.

I wouldn't worry about it if you run your own business or if you're working for the military.

I upgraded Win7 -> Win10 and I don't see myself going back. It definitely has a few bugs (I can't get the store to work for some reason) but they didn't remove any functions I use on a regular basis, and all my software still works perfectly. My AutoCAD, Photoshop, battlefield and office all work as they had been.

I also only did the upgrade - no "clean install" yet

If it does not bug after install its good in worst cases you most refresh Windows which includes removing all software but keep files...

Funny thing is I had a few preview builds on my laptop for months, I went and did a fresh load of windows 7 on it and upgraded to 10, once i got the full version it went to acting up all the time running the exact same programs that got used in the previews. I did the refresh and after a few days it went back to freezing about 30 seconds after starting up, I disabled every program I could at start up. Since my gf is using my laptop 99% of the time and she mostly just listens to music, watch videos and surf the web, I put linux ubuntu on it because for just works and the laptop hasn't crashed once with it yet. I got windows 10 on my desk top, it seems to be much more stable on the much newer hardware in my desktop. I have had a couple of crashes though but I expect that from a young os like windows 10.
